Tada! USK Japan's new logo

I'd like to introduce our new logo designed by Hiroyuki Shirakawa, a designer and a fellow sketcher. This was selected among 5 variation by voting done in the Facebook Urban Sketchers Japan group.











After having minor modification of Design A, the logo look so shiny and so well fit what we want to see as Japan image. Special thanks to Hiroyuki Shirakawa!

    Congratulations -- it's beautiful! When I saw the choices you posted on Facebook, this is the design I would have voted for if I were a member of USk Japan -- very elegant and iconic. Now I wish USk Seattle had our own logo... hmmm...

アーバンスケッチャーとスケッチブック / How Urban Sketchers Pick & Customize Sketchbooks

年末年始、東京でたっくさんスケッチをしていったオーストラリアのアーバンスケッチャー、マイケルのスケッチブックを拝見する機会がありました。とても彼らしく、楽しいスケッチブックの使い方をされていて、ぜひこれをこのブログで共有したいと思ったのが、今回の記事のはじまりです。 スケッチブックはスケッチャーの一番の友と言っていいアイテム。アーバンスケッチをされる方の多くが、どこへ行くにもスケッチブックと一緒だと思います。そのため、どんなものを選び、どんなふうに使うかは、スケッチャーによって、その好みやスタイルに応じて様々。そこで今回はマイケルに加えて3名のUSkJメンバーにご自身とスケッチブックについて書いていただきました。書き手の方々には簡単にテーマだけお伝えしたのですが、皆さんそれぞれのスタイルでコメントを寄せてくださって、それも非常にアーバンスケッチャーらしいです。。。以下、ボリュームはあるのですが、そのぶん読み応えもばっちりなので最後までお読みいただけたら嬉しいです。 The idea of this blog post came from when I saw the sketchbooks of an Australian urban sketcher Michael, who sketched a lot in Tokyo for the past two months. BTS of Urban Sketching Weekend: En (縁) Is the Key to Success

  津田沼で行われたUrban Sketching Weekend Skills Seriesから１週間後の夜、インドネシア出身で現在は山口に拠点を置くUSkJのメンバー、ニアと３時間半ぶっ通しでチャットするという女子高生のようなことをした（どこにそんな体力が残っていたのか自分でも不明）。そのなかで「縁」という概念について少し話をした。何事もちょっとした縁から動き出し、次に繋がり、さらに発展して、小さな巡り合わせは気つけば大きな何かに成長している。これはまさにUrban Sketching Weekendの企画運営に際して身にしみて感じたことだった。 運営責任者としてイベントのまとめをブログに書くべきだと思い、振り返ってみると、円の中心にいた自分には客観的にイベントを評価したり、満遍なくプログラムについて感想を述べたりするのは不可能だと気づく。それであれば、自分にしか書けない視点、つまりイベントの裏側の視点から、極私的な振り返りをしてみようと思う。いわばビハインド記事的なもので、ゆるい内容になると思うけれど、同時に今後日本チームで似たようなイベントを企画運営してみたい人にとっての刺激になったら嬉しい（なんか「である調」で書き出してしまったため、語調が固いなあ。先行き不安）。  At midnight a week after Urban Sketching Weekend Skills Series in Tsudanuma, I had a 3.5-hour nonstop chat with Nia, an urban sketcher from Indonesia currently based in Yamaguchi.
